Future Mr. & Mrs. Whalen

Our story
OUR STORY

Sarah's friend Allie was moving to Dallas and asked Sarah to accompany her on the drive and help her settle in. Little did Sarah know, Allie had a mutual friend named Joe from her college days. Joe, who was working for Amazon in Dallas, generously offered his truck to assist with the move. As Allie and Joe coordinated the logistics of the move, Joe extended an invitation for Allie and Sarah to join him and his friends for a night out on Labor Day weekend. Excited for the opportunity to meet new people, Allie and Sarah accepted.

When Allie and Sarah arrived at Joe's townhouse, Sarah couldn't help but notice Joe's handsome looks. Allie, despite her promise to keep it a secret, couldn't resist sharing Sarah's admiration with Joe. Intrigued, Joe was determined to make a move and win Sarah's heart. That night turned out to be amazing, and Sarah was captivated by Joe's charm and genuine kindness. From that moment on, Joe became the topic of every conversation Sarah had during the remainder of her trip with Allie (Sorry Allie!).

Unfortunately, as Sarah's trip came to an end, a challenge awaited them. Sarah and Joe found themselves in a long-distance relationship, traveling back and forth between Dallas and Michigan to be together. Just as they were adjusting to the distance, the COVID-19 pandemic struck, keeping them apart for months. They realized that something had to change so Sarah embarked on a job hunt, applying to what felt like a million jobs during the challenging times of the pandemic.

After a few months, Sarah received an offer for a job in Dallas. Knowing that this was the opportunity they had been waiting for, she eagerly accepted. Soon after, Sarah made the big move to Dallas, ready to build a future together with Joe.

They now reside in Lewisville, Texas, just 25 minutes outside of the city, in their cozy townhouse, which they share with their beloved fur babies, Bella and Nyla.

Fast forward 3 years and 2 month later, their love had grown stronger than ever. Joe surprised Sarah with a romantic trip to Punta Cana, marking his first time venturing beyond the borders of his home country. Little did Sarah know, Joe had been meticulously planning the perfect proposal for months, ensuring every detail was flawless. He had purchased the engagement ring six months before the trip, keeping it a secret from Sarah. Joe orchestrated an unforgettable evening that Sarah believed was simply a dinner on the beach, inspired by a story he had shared about his aunt's experience.

Unbeknownst to Sarah, a photographer was waiting to capture the beautiful moment. Joe had arranged for them to be picked up from their hotel and driven to a secluded beach, where they were to have their dinner. As they arrived, the photographer began taking photos of them together, but then requested some solo shots of Sarah. Little did she know that Joe was secretly preparing to get down on one knee behind her. The joy and shock on Sarah's face were immeasurable when she turned around to find Joe professing his love and offering her a ring. It was an absolute dream come true, especially since they had gone ring shopping just five weeks prior and Sarah believed it would take six weeks for the ring to arrive. On cloud nine, she gladly said "yes" to spending the rest of her life with Joe. The engagement was a testament to Joe's thoughtfulness and his ability to create a beautiful and perfect moment that would forever be etched in their hearts.

As we reflect on our journey, we are filled with gratitude and excitement for the future. We can't wait to celebrate our love and commitment with each and every one of you. Your presence on our special day means the world to us as we embark on this new chapter together. Thank you for being a part of our love story, and we look forward to creating many cherished memories with all of you by our side.
